Philosophy

As parents of children with disabilities and PAVE staff members we believe that:
Always supportive and reafirm family abilities.
  • All discussions with and regarding families and professionals will be kept in strict confidence.
  • We strive to be nonjudgmental, regardless of differing values and beliefs.
  • We are always supportive
  • Our role is to reaffirm family abilities.
  • PAVE services are not limited by age, disability or economic status.
  • PAVE staff is culturally diverse and strives to be culturally sensitive.
  • We are consistent models for parent/professional collaboration.
  • We stay up to date on issues and trends.
  • We do not make decisions for others.
  • We support individuals with disabilities in self-advocacy.
  • Families and parents act in what they believe is in the best interest of their child.
  • People are people first.
  • Systems should be family driven and services should be family centered.
  • We must be leaders in systems change.
  • Inclusion in the family, in life activities, in school and in the community is a fundamental right for all individuals.
  • People with disabilities are vital members of our communities.
These guiding principles are used as a constant reminder of PAVE’s mission and why we do what we do.
